[Bike Check] Kyle Strait’s Custom XXL Commencal Supreme

With the final moments dawning on the iconic Post Office jumps in Aptos, California there have been a great deal of pros in town for some shredding. Yesterday we got a chance to catch up with Kyle Strait at the Deer Camp. We’ll have an action gallery up from Deer Camp shortly, but for now we wanted to give you a sneak peak at the two time Red Bull Rampage winner’s new custom made size XXL Commencal Supreme DH. We also cracked of some shots of his hard tail and it’s sweet features.

Let’s start up front. Big headtube with internal cable routing. 3 bottomless tokens in Lyle’s Rock Shox Boxxer World Cup

Custom Sensus grips for Strait’s meaty paws. Probably the fattest grips you’ll ever see.

Other contact points…Kevlar SDG saddle and HT pedals so Lyle doesn’t get caught slippin’. You’ll notice he’s removed a few pins from the pedals.

Out back, we couldn’t get a shot of the graphic, but Kyle rocks a custom wound 550# spring on his Rock Shox Vivid RC2

Sweet integrated shock protector. The Supreme’s tubeset leaves the rear shock a bit exposed. The designers were smart enough to incorporate this brilliant device to ward off mud and errant rocks.

Full SRAM X01 DH package. The only 7 Speed DH dedicated stock drivetrain on the market.

Adjustable chainstay length. Also a brilliant move on Commencal’s part.

Novatec hubs and rims keep Lyle rolling in a Strait line(see what we did there?)

Kyle’s Absolut Dirt Jump bike. Although Kyle is most synonymous with huckin 50 foot drops at Red Bull Rampage, the dude can throw down on some dirt piles as well…

Just in case you thought we were lying…

Alright, back to it. Obviously a Pike DJ up front.

XO1 Bits and Avid Trail XO brakes. Super cool brake mounting on the Absolut.

HT pedals without pins removed.

Mega trick adjustable rear end. Still uses a quick release, but features a really neat stainless tensioner. Dialed.

Slick seat tube/top tube/seat stay junction.

And finally, although there is only one cable on this bike, we love the hidden routing for it inside the hydroformed tubing.
