Trek’s 2023 Fuel EX Reviewed: Options, Options, Options…

Trek’s 2023 Fuel EX has just been made public and it has received a massive overhaul. The mid travel/duty trail bike gets a 10mm travel bump front and rear and now sits at 150mm front and 140mm rear. However, there is plenty more to the story…It can accept a 27.5″ rear wheel if you up the fork travel to 160mm, and it also sees an adjustable head angle and adjustable rear shock progression. Internal storage is available on both Aluminum and Carbon Fiber framesets.

Trek will be selling headset cups that allow you to alter your head angle plus or minus one degree without affecting bottom bracket height.

The flip chip in the lower shock eyelet doesn’t affect geometry, but it does change from a more linear to a more progressive setting. As the Fuel EX works with both Coil and Air sprung shocks this is ideal as it helps the rider fine tune the kinematics to the shock of choice.

Trek will offer the bike in XS, S, M, L and XXL sizing and the frameset will be offered as a standalone option in both Aluminum and Carbon with a full lineup of Aluminum and Carbon complete bikes with a broad range of specs.
