I never take the approach that I&#8217;m doing as well as I possibly can&#8230;\u201d &#8211; Kelly Slater<\/i><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Make no mistake about it, Jack Moir is serious about laying down fast times on downhill tracks wherever in the world they might be. In 2017, Moir took the 2nd podium spot at the World Cup in Fort William, and kept it close to, or inside, the top 10 in the UCI Downhill Mountain Bike World Cup \u2014 except for in Andorra. When he\u2019s close enough to a round of the Enduro World Series, and his schedule allows, he\u2019ll throw himself in the mix there, too, and he\u2019ll finish in the top 10.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CWXLesGets17_O5A1035.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-174007\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CWXLesGets17_O5A1035.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1066\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CWXLesGets17_O5A1035.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CWXLesGets17_O5A1035-750x500.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CWXLesGets17_O5A1035-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Watch him on the bike, though, and the tall Aussie\u2019s style make it look like he isn\u2019t really forcing the issue, almost like he\u2019s out for a warm-up lap. It\u2019s a look, maybe even a stigma, that many tall riders share, and Moir is quick to point that out. Look a bit closer at Jack\u2019s style, though, and you might be able to see an influence from surfing \u2014 which makes sense when you consider that the Intense Factory Racing rider has been riding waves on one form of board or another since he was old enough to walk out into the water by himself.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CWXLesGets17_X2_8862.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"size-full wp-image-174010\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CWXLesGets17_X2_8862.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1066\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CWXLesGets17_X2_8862.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CWXLesGets17_X2_8862-750x500.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/12\/CWXLesGets17_X2_8862-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p class=\"p1\"><span class=\"s1\">Ask him about his moniker \u201cShark Attack Jack\u201d and he\u2019ll nonchalantly tell you a story about being bitten in the leg a decade ago. In his eyes, when you\u2019re healthy, you need to take advantage of it and race. And ride.
