A fairly aggressive outsole wraps up to cover high abrasion areas. The heel cuff&#8217;s padding, contour and fit is excellent. An abrasion resistant toe bumper caps things off nicely.<\/figcaption><\/figure>\n<p>My first impressions of this shoe is that it&#8217;s extremely well thought out. I&#8217;ve been wanting to try a mid-top, gravity oriented shoe outside of the Five Ten camp for some time. I&#8217;ve been bugging friends at Specialized to concoct a 2FO, but in a mid top. The Wildcat seems quite close and I&#8217;m looking forward to some lift assisted days riding them.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-190956\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMC8144.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMC8144.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMC8144-750x500.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMC8144-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The outsole is made up of a honeycomb style pattern, which has proven to work nicely over the years. What\u2019s different is the collaboration with the Rubber Kinetics, a design and development firm specializing in rubber. \u00a0Goodyear has also recently partnered with RK for their foray into the cycling world.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-190957\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMC8143.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMC8143.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMC8143-750x500.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMC8143-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Abrasion resistant fabrics and materials are used throughout and an EVA midsole checks in for comfort duties. You can also see how dense the padding is at the heel, in addition to its contour.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-190960\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMC8141.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMC8141.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMC8141-750x500.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/09\/IMC8141-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The combination of a velcro closure and an elastic lace tab are deployed for keeping things snub and clean. 1.5mm perforations are used throughout, for ventilation.<\/p>\n<p>We&#8217;ll keep you updated with a long term review on the Wildcat shoes and down the road we&#8217;ll be checking out a more trail oriented clipless pedal model as well.
