{"id":200927,"date":"2019-03-03T19:17:56","date_gmt":"2019-03-03T18:17:56","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/?p=200927\/"},"modified":"2019-03-03T19:17:56","modified_gmt":"2019-03-03T18:17:56","slug":"sunn-formula-the-meeting-of-two-prototypes","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/en\/sunn-formula-the-meeting-of-two-prototypes\/","title":{"rendered":"Sunn &#038; Formula: The Meeting of Two Prototypes"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>At the Mountain Bike Connection Winter in Massa Marittima Formula is there with a new fork, still in the prototype phase, which I&#8217;ll\u00a0provide\u00a0more information on in the coming days as I was able to test it on the beautiful trails of Monte Arsenti.\u00a0Formula presented the Selva prototype mounted on a prototype chassis\u00a0from Sunn, with truly\u00a0unique and captivating lines.\u00a0The Sunn bike was unfortunately only available for\u00a0an exhibition while for the actual field test, the prototype of the Formula Selva fork was mounted on another bike, so\u00a0all we can do for now is to show you what we saw&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9364.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-200811\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9364.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9364.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9364-750x500.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9364-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The front triangle has sharp and angular lines, with a very radical looking head tube area, which is joined by a raised graphic made directly out of the carbon structure on the front of the top tube.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9370.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-200813\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9370.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9370.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9370-750x500.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9370-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The suspension system seems extremely elaborate, but in reality it is a four bar l with Horst\u00a0link that compresses the shock absorber on both sides, therefore technically a &#8220;full floater&#8221;.\u00a0The\u00a0chainstays\u00a0are of a considerable size\u00a0have a\u00a0mudguard in front of them to protect the rear shock from spray and mud.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9362.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"alignnone size-full wp-image-200810\" src=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9362.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"1600\" height=\"1067\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9362.jpg 1600w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9362-750x500.jpg 750w, https:\/\/www.mtb-mag.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/03\/7S9C9362-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1600px) 100vw, 1600px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>The position of the shock absorber is actually the most peculiar detail of this Sunn frame.\u00a0It is placed inside and surrounded by a structure that joins the bottom bracket housing to the seat tube.\u00a0The very wide sides of this\u00a0box literally hide and protect the shock absorber, leaving only the\u00a0reservoir and external adjustments exposed.\u00a0The\u00a0linkage that\u00a0drives\u00a0the shock absorber is made with the dimensions and shape that are\u00a0in line with the design of the frame&#8217;s\u00a0heart that forms a sort of box that encloses the shock absorber,\u00a0sealed at the back by the removable fender.
