TOMAC IS BACK RACING
Posted on January 16, 2008 @ 8:29 AM
Good to see Tomac back on the race circuit. Also good news is Joe Smith has made the team.

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Tomac Is Back...Racing!
Tomac announces today the creation of the Tomac Factory Racing Team. Based in Switzerland, the team will contest the entire 2008 World Cup DH/4X program.
“A dream coming true“ says Team Manager and World Cup rider Claudio Caluori. “It’s where I started my career nine years ago, and I am really happy to now be managing the team and riding Tomac for 2008.“
The team will feature some of the hottest up and coming talents from around the globe. On the DH side, team riders include Rhys Willemse and Laurie Dinham from Australia, Joseph Smith from the UK and Robin Hagen from Switzerland. All have been hailed as the "fastest juniors" in their respective countries. In 4X, the duo of Mirco and Adrian Weiss promises to round out an already strong package of junior riders.
Under the tutuledge of Caluori, who will continue to race the Elite World Cup circuit, the team will be focused on all of the World Cup events and the World Championships. Additionally, the team will hold Junior Development Camps in Switzerland, where young riders will have the chance to ride with the pros and benefit from their riding knowledge and skills.
“It was really an obvious choice to work with Claudio,“says Tomac owner Joel Smith.“His experience, knowledge and work ethic will be an incredible benefit for these young riders.“
Sponsors include Fiat, TSG, Shimano, FSA, Fox, Aweka, E13, Kenda, DT Swiss.
Claudio Caluori
Claudio Caluori is a World Cup racer with 7 National Titles and 15 years of racing experience, 3 years of which for the first Tomac Racing Team. Claudio is extremely happy to get the chance of doing what John Tomac did for him 9 years ago: supporting young riders, helping them to attack at a World Cup level!
Laurie Dinham
Laurie Dinham is a 17 year old Australian. He placed 2nd in the Australian National Championships U17s category and 3rd U15s, and is State Champion U19s, U17s & U15s. His goal is to become a successful World Cup racer
Robin Hagen
Robin Hagen is the 17-year-old hope from Switzerland. He wants to become the next Swiss rider (after Claudio) to finish in the top ten in a World Cup.
Joseph Smith
Joseph Smith was the fastest junior at the World Championships in Fort William, Scotland who will still be a junior in 2008. At an age of 18, his goal is to prove himself in the Elite category. Rhys Willemse
Rhys Willemse has already shown his skills at the Australian National Series, when he scared many of the pros with his fast times and smooth riding style. Only 17 years old, 2008 will be his first World Cup season.
Adrian and Mirco Weiss
Adrian and Mirco Weiss are two young 4X talents from Switzerland. With their consistent top 5 results at swiss nationals, they’re ready to step it up at the world cup.
