[First Look] Specialized Enduro S-Works 650b Long Term Test Bike

A few months back we spent some time on the Sunshine Coast in BC, Canada shredding the new Enduro at Coast Gravity Park. It took us a little while but we just got ahold of an Enduro S-Works 650b for a long term test rig. As the flagship bike from the Morgan Hill brand, it doesn’t come cheap but it is stacked; carbon fiber Roval Wheels, RockShox Lyrik, an Ohlins STX-22, and SRAM’s Eagle drivetrain with custom matching colors for the all black machine. Here’s a closer look…

.

Overview

Travel : 170mm front and rear
SWAT Downtube storage
SRAM Eagle 12 Speed 1X drivetrain with 500% range
Boost Spacing
Roval Traverse Fattie SL Carbon Fiber Wheels
RockShox Lyrik – 46mm offset
Specialized Command Post irCC
“Not Quite Plus” Specialized Butcher/Slaughter 650b X 2.6″

SRAM Eagle X01 – custom all black colorway. 32 tooth chainring.
RockShox Lyrik – 170mm travel with a 46 mm offset to keep the slack head tube angle steering quickly.
Ohlins STX-22 providing 170mm travel out back. Adjustable Rebound, high and low speed compression.
Specialized Command Post irCC. 125mm travel. Cable actuated.
Built in downtube guard.
S.W.A.T. storage system. You can fit a pump, spare tube, wind breaker and more in here. Or you can put a burrito or a liquid flask if you choose.
We usually throw in-house grips right in the trash but the Specialized grips are actually quite nice. Diamond pattern on the top, waffle grid on the bottom and a single clamp design. SRAM Guide RS Carbon levers.
SRAM Guide RS brakes. 200mm front/180mm rear rotor.
FSR kinematics, internal cable routing and a custom integrated chainstay protector.
Updated FSR linkage. Much burlier and it now uses the same hardware all the way around.
A little bit tight in there. Specialized designed the new Enduro around a 650b X 2.3″ tire but it’s spec’d with a 2.6″ wide tire. We’ll be trying them but likely switching to a 2.3″.
More updates. The seatstays now brace and attach to the linkage both inboard and outboard.
Specialized Henge saddle.
Butcher gets bigger. 2.6″ wide surrounded by woven carbon fiber.
Smart in house spec for a clean cockpit. The S-Works bar is dialed. We’ve run it in the past. 38mm rise, 780mm wide.
Maxle stealth to keep it light. Only 24 spokes up front on these wheels. Radial lacing on the non-drive side.
Mmmmm. Carbon.
The best cable actuated lever on the market. Feels just like a shifter.
Syntace 60mm stem. We just might try a 50mm stem at some point.
