Ergon’s New German Made GXR Grips

[Press Release] – The clever minds of ERGON have once again consulted the innovation oracle and proud to introduce the new GXR grip. Designed to excel with just the essentials, the ERGON GXR does exactly what cross-country riders and lightweight racers want: absorb impacts, grippy, weighs very little, and of course, ergonomic in the hand and giving the rider security without death-gripping. The GXR is the first truly ergonomic lightweight grip made of AirCell-Rubber manufactured in a specially developed process. Super light, without needing a clamp, and 100 % made in Germany – with the GXR Ergon defines a new chapter in lightweight race-ready mountain bike grips.

Incorporating a new production process, ERGON AirCell-Rubber is formed into a grip that is ergonomically adapted to a mountain biker’s hands and the demands of the XC and downcountry disciplines. With specifically placed and textured zones – such as the texture across the bottom, just for fingertips –the GXR are the result of ERGON’s unique manufacturing processes in Germany. The unique AirCell-Rubber has an exceptional damping thanks to countless micro air pockets (or cells) within its design, which also makes it super light, soft, and GXR has been TÜV certified to be free of for harmful substances.

ERGON team riders Elmar Sprink and Peter Schermann already put GXR to task at the toughest mountain bike stage race in the world, the Cape Epic in South Africa. Eight days in sweltering heat with both physically and technically hard routes over 700 kilometers and 17,000 meters of altitude. Under those conditions a grip has to be tough also – and of course it was: “The new Ergon grip is simply world class,” Elmar said happily afterwards, despite all the exertion. “No signs of fatigue, no pain, no numb fingers and always everything under control – no matter how strenuous and long the stages have been.”
