[First Look] 9point8 Fall Line Dropper post

/

[ad3]

Hailing from just outside of Toronto, Canada, 9point8 quietly stepped into the dropper post scene a while back when they introduced their Pulse seatpost which features a stepped 125mm stroke. In other words, it drops down in 10mm increments – each of which have a very positive feel. Recently we stumbled upon their new Fall line post at Sea Otter and as we were quite impressed with it on paper, we reached out to them for a test. We just bolted it up to our Evil Following and wanted to go over some of it’s features quickly before we get into the nitty gritty of the test.

.

Some quick notes are that the post retails for $379. It’s cable actuated, air sprung, but features a very positive feeling hydraulic brake. No bleeding necessary. You can take it off of your bike for travel completely tool free. It’s only available with a stealth style routing but it’s incredibly easy to set up. Oh, lastly – when you pick the bike up by the saddle, it doesn’t budge. At all. Take a peek at the highlights below and we’ll keep you posted when we’ve had enough time on it to solidify our thoughts.

Etched Markings out back are nice and the post has a super high quality feel.

If you have a saddle like this Specialized Power Comp, you can air it up without having to actually remove the saddle.

It is this easy to disconnect the post. There are two bolts to unscrew. Per 9point8's instructions, you actually just leave them hand tight so if you have a quick release seatpost clamp it truly is hands free to remove. Brilliant.
