We’ve all heard the big news by now that the infamous Post Office dirt jumps in Aptos, CA were just plowed after a good long run. While we’ve been covering it’s final moments, the spots last days have drawn in a great deal of MTB talent from all over the world. A couple miles down the road we got to witness some next level riding at Deer Camp. It was almost like a mini crankworx in someone’s back yard.
Welcome to Deer Camp – the back yard of Greg Watts and Tyler McCaul. Greg takes a gander at his masterpieces.
Spectatin’ zone. Complete with a mega chair.
No dig, no ride. Kyle Jameson hydrates while Brandon Semenuk and Logan Peat pack and perfect.
Tom Van Steenbergen and Martin Söderström were in town last week. We’d typically say that they’re teaching young grom Connor Gallart a thing or two about packing, but Connor is well beyond his years and puts his time in at all the local spots. You’ll soon see why it’s paying off.
Tools of the trade.
You don’t just learn front flips and 720s without soft landings to practice into. Tom Van Steenbergen fluffs the wood chips.
It’s cool to see world class athletes like Martin Söderström coming from as far as Sweden to ride here in the off season.
Speaking of Sweden, Anton Thelander flew across the pond as well.
It wouldn’t be Deer Camp without antlers.
Greg Watts’ dumped suicide 360s are something to behold.
Christian Wright. Super dumped.
Connor Gallart, flip whip. Practice is paying off.
Jeff Herb. Indian Air.
Semenuk. Always stylish.
Semenuk again. Super sketchy trick. Upbox footplant to dumped 3. Insane.
Greg Watts just getting gnarly at home.
Anton Thelander, flatspin 3.
Brandon undoubtedly throws down the best 360 inverted tables in the game.
Martin Söderström Dumped 360 nac??
Raymond George. Another amazing local. He recently signed with Polygon.
Kyle Strait – Truck Driver.
Carson Storch – Flip Whip.
Kyle, again proving his skillset goes well beyond Rampage and the big bike.
Semenuk in full “slope mode”
Carson Storch is another big up and comer…the Bend, OR local showed hints of brilliance this year at Joyride and Rampage.
Martin Söderström has to be one of the most limber people on a bike…
Flatspin 360 for Lyle.
Look who showed up. Even Cam Zink made the drive down and has been shredding around Aptos.
More inverted 3’s for Brandon.
Cam Zink – Flip Whip.
Cam with a mild miscalculation. Still all smiles though.
Logan Peat. Also down for the BC winter to escape the snow.
Last but not least. 3 big ones on the HUGE trick jump. Semenuk with a 720, Logan with a drawn out 360 and Tom Van Steenbergen with a huge front flip. That’s all folks.
