April 10th, 2022. Petrópolis, Brazil. First round of the 2022 XCO World Cup. Victory for Bec McConnell of the PMG Racing Team. First XCO World Cup win for the Australian, for the PMG Racing Team and for Mondraker.

Bec McConnell is having an impeccable, dream start to the season. No one could have imagined this start even in their wildest dreams. No wonder she is leading the XCC Short Track and XCO World Cup after three races. Outstanding performance from the Australian.

In Brazil Bec started her World Cup winning record, and in the following races since then, Albstadt and Nove Mesto, McConnell made it three victories in a row. Therefore, Bec becomes the fifth rider in the history of the Cross-Country World Cup to win the first three rounds along with Alyson Sydor and Julie Furtado in the 1990s, Gunn-Rita Dahle and Loana Lecompte. In addition, Rebecca also won the XCC Short Track race in Albstadt, Germany. This is another first win for her, PMG and Mondraker in this explosive XC discipline.

To commemorate the first victory in Petrópolis, Mondraker has tailor-made an F-Podium Special Edition for Bec. The colours are predominantly black and iridescent green, the latter being reminiscent of the Brazilian jungle, location where Rebecca began to write the history which, so far, continues to keep us dreaming about her leadership.

The subtle details are its main feature. As a result, we can read the text “First World Cup Win – Brazil 2022” on the back of the seat tube; the traditional bay leaves given out on the podiums covering the top tube, down tube and chainstays; and a small drawing in the shape of her beloved dachshund Lenny on the top tube next to the head tube.

Bec’s new F-Podium Special Edition has the same setup as the F-Podium DC RR with which she competes in the World Cup. Features include RockShox SID Ultimate RL suspension fork, RockShox SID Luxe RLR shock, SRAM XX1 Eagle AXS wireless drivetrain and SRAM Level TLM brakes. For the dropper post it is fitted with an ONOFF Pija, the only component different from the one fitted to her race bike, which is a RockShox Reverb AXS.

Paco Sanchez (Mondraker President) and Yuriy Tomas (Mondraker Global Marketing Manager) personally handed over the bike to Bec McConnell at Mondraker’s headquarters yesterday. The surprise left Rebecca speechless and she was tremendously grateful and excited in front of the hundreds of company employees, who cheered the Australian’s success and how she has positioned the F-Podium as the leading XCO World Cup bike.

Although we don’t really know if she will be racing any of the upcoming World Cups with this exclusive bike, she has made it clear that it will become the star of her bike collection which she has been accumulating over the course of her racing career.

Paco Sanchez said: “We are really excited about Bec, we have been working together for years to achieve a result of this level, her commitment to Mondraker is a reflection of our values, and we will always be grateful for her effort and dedication to get to this point”.
