Red Bull Formation Returns for 2022

Southwest, Utah (March 30, 2022) – Red Bull Formation, the first all-women’s big-mountain freeride progression session, will continue to break down barriers and raise the bar in freeride mountain biking as it’s set to return for its third edition from May 8-15, 2022. During the session, an expanded field of twelve of the top female freeriders in the world will gather in the famed red dirt of the Southwestern Utah desert for development, community, mentorship, and the opportunity to continue to progress the women’s field of the sport.

“Red Bull Formation was formed to create a future path for women in freeride mountain biking,” said event co-founder and professional mountain bike athlete Katie Holden. “Last year was a spectacular event. We saw the sport progress in ways we didn’t think was possible in such a short amount of time, and it proves how much talent there is in the women’s field that needs the opportunity to blossom.”

The overall event format will remain the same, consisting of three dig days where the riders sculpt their runs and carve out their ideal line down the mountain; one rest day, where they can recharge and find community in each other and a collection of industry mentors; and three ride days, where they bring it all together, shred their lines, and showcase the most progressive big-mountain riding on the planet. While not a competition, the event serves to elevate women mountain bikers by providing a platform on which to progress the sport, by creating visibility through increased representation, and fostering collaboration through leadership in sport.

Exclusive content from the event will be made available through the Red Bull Bike YouTube and social channels. To stay up to date on the latest event info, including confirmation of the official athlete roster, follow @RedBullBike and #RedBullFormation, and visit the event website here.
